Hello
Hello, my name is Amandalyn and I am the face behind Luck Mountain Leather. In 2014 I walked into a mercantile store in Springfield, Oregon, saw some handmade leather goods, and the seed was planted. The man at the counter told me I should go buy a starter kit and take a class at my local Tandy. I did just that and learned some simple tooling techniques, but quickly got distracted by life after having a baby. Years later I have carried around the same piece of veg tanned leather hoping I might learn to make something.
In 2020, the covid-19 pandemic brought with it financial hardship but it also inspired some changes. I started my career as a massage therapist and opened my own business. During that time I also started playing around with leather again. In the summer of 2021 I learned I was expecting another baby and ultimately had to put my massage business on pause. I decided to spend my time pursuing leatherwork while waiting for my second child. There's a lot more to the story, but the short version is that my second son was born in March 2022, and I currently stay at home with my two boys and try to make some leather goods when I can. I spend countless hours thinking, designing, and dreaming about all the handmade items I want to offer. It really is a love-affair, but I guess for now it's sort of a "slow-craft" type of situation. At this time, you can find me at local pop-up marketplaces with my kiddos in tow.
Inspired by a love for nature, I offer you a collection of unique leather hides transformed into one-of-a-kind functional art. Luck Mountain is the direct translation of my firstborn's name, who encouraged a massive change in life for the better.
By purchasing my handmade creations you are investing in a quality product that will last for many of your adventures. As a steward to our Earth I use minimal waste packaging that is recyclable. I care for animals and believe that my craft is a way to honor those beings and help ensure less waste occurs from the meat industry. Leather has became my passion, and I'm so excited to share my journey with you. From my heart to yours- thank you for being here and supporting this mama-owned business.
With love,
Amandalyn
